Review: Six of Crows

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Can street magic still be impressive when reading about it instead of seeing it? In this book, yes!

"Six people, but a thousand ways this insane plan could go wrong." --Six of Crows

Six of Crows is about a ragtag group of six who come together to do the impossible: break into a high-security prison and capture a prisoner. Each person has their own dark history, but they all agree to do the job for one reason: the reward money. But when the stakes are higher than they anticipated, is the money enough reason to keep going?

This book is action-packed and will keep you on your toes! It's another series that takes place in Bardugo's Grishaverse. Kaz Brekker is the mastermind of the group and I loved his confidence, his sneaky backup plans, and sleight of hand. If you enjoyed the magician heist movie, Now You See Me, this book is 100% for you. The banter between the characters was my favorite part. Each chapter rotates perspectives of the members of the group, except for one character, which I thought was a little odd. There is a lot of romantic tension among the group members, but most of the focus is on the job.

This was a really fun read and I highly recommend it! Now I'm looking forward to the Netflix series (Shadow and Bone, to be released April 23rd) even more!

Mature content: mild profanity, graphic violence, sexual innuendo, drug abuse, death.
