The Queen of Nothing by Holly BlackMy rating: 5 of 5 stars
"Neither loyalty nor love should be compelled."
The final novel in the Folk of the Air series did not disappoint!
The threat of war is imminent and the High King of Elfhame's throne is at risk. Jude has been forced into exile and has been betrayed by nearly everyone she ever trusted. How will it all be resolved? I don't want to give out too many spoilers from the previous books so I'll just talk about what I liked about this book.
The Queen of Nothing is my favorite book in the series, I feel like each book was better than the one before it. Maybe because I'm a sap for romance sometimes, but I was very satisfied with the relationship and character development, especially as we peel back Cardan's layers and learn that he's not such a bad guy after all. I was also very happy with how the conflicts were resolved. I feel like Black could have drawn out some of the dramatic scenes a little more to make them more emotional, but overall I was very pleased.
Mature Content: occasional profanity, sex, cannibalism, death.
